Travis Greene started his music career in 2007 with the release of his debut album The More on his own label Greenelight Records. He then signed with Pendulum Records and released his second album Stretching Out in 2010. He gained more recognition and success with his third album The Hill, which was released in 2015 on RCA Inspiration. He defended his choice by saying that he wanted to be a bridge between the church and the world and that he prayed about it before accepting the invitation. He also said that he did not endorse or support Trump's policies or views.

In 2019, he was accused of plagiarism by Nigerian singer Mairo Ese for allegedly copying his song Ole Halleluyah for his song You Waited. Ese claimed that he wrote Ole Halleluyah in 2015 and released it in 2016 before Greene released You Waited in 2017. He said that he contacted Greene's team but did not receive any response or acknowledgment. Greene did not publicly address the issue.

What is Nara?

Nara is one of Travis Greene's most popular songs. It is a collaboration with Nigerian gospel singer Tim Godfrey, who is also the founder and president of Rox Nation, a record label and entertainment company. The song was released in 2018 as part of Godfrey's album Nara.

Meaning and origin of the song

Nara means "accept" or "receive" in Igbo, a language spoken by the Igbo people of Nigeria. The song is a praise and worship song that expresses gratitude to God for his goodness and faithfulness. The chorus of the song goes like this:

Nara ekele mo (Accept my thanks)

Nara otito mo (Accept my praise)

Nara ekele mo (Accept my thanks)

Chukwu oma meh (Good God)

The song was inspired by Godfrey's testimony of how God delivered him from a life-threatening situation. He shared his story on his Instagram page, where he wrote:

"Two years ago on my way to Port Harcourt for an event, I had a ghastly motor accident that almost claimed my life. I was unconscious for hours and was later rushed to the hospital. I woke up the next day and saw myself in the hospital with bruises all over my body. I couldn't walk, I couldn't talk, I couldn't do anything. The doctors said I had a spinal cord injury and that I might never walk again. But God had other plans for me. He healed me miraculously and restored me to full health. He gave me a second chance to live and to fulfill my purpose. That's why I wrote this song Nara to give him all the glory and honor for what he has done for me."

Lyrics and translation

The lyrics of Nara are a mix of English and Igbo, with some parts also in Yoruba, another Nigerian language. Here is a breakdown of the lyrics and their translation:
